After a long long gap, I thought of writing again. Few days back, I had read an ironical story which I thought of sharing with you my dear friends.
Irony is a moment in which the opposite of what’s expected actually occurs, a contrast between “what seems to be” and “what is.”
Once upon a time there lived a middle-aged man named Peter Paul in the colony of Surrey in British Columbia. He lived all alone in a rented accommodation after the death of his wife & only son. One day he was asked to vacate the house due to his non-payment of rental amount. He scarcely had enough money hence he posted it on Facebook seeking for help. Few days later, all he got were “15 likes” and “zero comment.”
He then sent 240 messages to his contact list ,requesting for a loan of $1500.
To his disappointment, he could get only 10 replies and 4 out of 10 claimed they couldn’t help. Only one out of 6 who replied they could help actually gave him few dollars but others gave excuses and never picked his calls. Ultimately the door of the house was locked and poor Peter had nowhere to sleep.
Shattered in despair, he walked in the dark thinking about the options. Suddenly, a thief snatched his empty wallet with his identity card in it. Then the thief while running, was badly hit by a speeding truck and died. News quickly got spread around the very next day that Peter Paul had died in a fatal accident. About 2500 people posted on his wall how they knew him and how great he was!
A committee was formed by his loyal friends who contributed $1800 to feed the guests at his funeral. His colleagues at work teamed up and brought some more amount of $3200 for a coffin, tents and chairs. He was to be buried in a coffin box worth 1500 dollars and exactly same amount he had needed to pay the rent.
Relatives did gather as it was a rare occasion for them to meet. So they met and contributed extra 3000 dollars. Everyone wanted to speak at his funeral.
Then came the turning point. There was a drama all over from the people who had never known how Peter survived. There was even a rumour that he was murdered by his friends. Speeches were made on how talented he was, even by those who had never attended his events. Few friends who supported him, didn’t even get a chance to speak during his funeral. Infact they were prime suspects for his death. You can well imagine how the scene turned after Peter showed up alive. Some thought he was a ‘ghost’.
This is the IRONY of life. We love the DEAD more than the LIVING.
This is indeed the absolute truth of today’s world, isn’t it?
Love your dear ones while they are alive. Stay compassionate, loving and blessed.
